Manufacturing / Multi-year engagement
From the factory floor to the field.
Harsco Rail is a global supplier of specialized railway track maintenance equipment, operating across 30+ countries. Over a multi-year engagement, Enspirit built three interconnected platforms: a real-time production floor dashboard, a B2B parts procurement platform, and an interactive digital catalog with offline mobile access for field technicians. Harsco now operates as Enviri Corporation.
The problem
Three separate operational problems, each significant on its own. Factory floor managers had no real-time visibility into machine capacity and workload as equipment moved through production. B2B customers had no self-serve way to find and order from a massive catalog of highly specialized parts with complex pricing rules. And field technicians servicing locomotives in remote rail yards were working from printed manuals with no way to order parts on the spot -- in places where network connectivity was not guaranteed.

What we built
A real-time data visualization system connected to Harsco's Oracle backend, projected on large screens across the factory floor. As machines were scanned during movement between locations, the display updated to reflect current capacity and workload distribution across the entire production operation. Designed specifically for projection at scale, with visual density calibrated for readability at distance under industrial conditions.
A B2B procurement platform built on OpenCart, significantly optimized for Harsco's scale and complexity. Dynamic pricing per customer login, full Oracle integration for live inventory and pricing data, and catalog navigation across millions of highly specialized industrial parts.
An interactive digital parts catalog that converted Harsco's enormous print service manuals into a navigable web and native mobile experience. Every part is illustrated and navigable through its full bill-of-materials hierarchy. The native mobile app was built with offline-first architecture because field technicians service locomotives in remote rail yards without network access.

Live Production Dashboard
Oracle-connected, scan-driven, real-time workload visualization optimized for factory-floor projection at scale.
B2B Parts Procurement
10M+ parts, dynamic per-customer pricing, Oracle integration, built on highly customized OpenCart.
Interactive Digital Catalog
Bill-of-materials navigation, illustrated parts, direct ordering from catalog on web and mobile.
Offline-First Mobile App
Native app for field technicians with full catalog access, repair instructions, and ordering capability without network connectivity.
The outcome
Three platforms, each solving a distinct operational problem, all connected to the same Oracle backbone. Factory managers gained real-time production visibility. B2B customers could self-serve across millions of parts with dynamic pricing. Field technicians replaced printed manuals with an offline-capable catalog that let them identify, reference, and order parts from anywhere -- even without connectivity.
