How we use AI across design, development, and QA

When we say "AI-native studio," we don't mean we build AI products for clients (though we do that too). We mean AI is part of how we work. It's in the design process, the development workflow, the code review, and the release validation. Not as a novelty. As infrastructure.

Here's what that actually looks like in practice.

Design: research synthesis and pattern detection

Our UX research process generates large volumes of qualitative data: interview transcripts, usability test recordings, survey responses, support tickets. AI helps us synthesize this data faster. We use AI to cluster themes across interview transcripts, identify recurring friction patterns in usability data, and surface insights that a human researcher would find eventually but that AI finds in hours instead of days.

We also use AI for rapid prototyping exploration. When we're in the early divergent phase of a design project, AI-generated layout variants give us more options to evaluate. The key is that a human designer evaluates every variant against the design system and the project's specific constraints. AI generates. Humans judge.

Development: code generation and review

Our engineers use AI-assisted code generation for boilerplate, test scaffolding, and repetitive patterns. This isn't about replacing engineering judgment. It's about removing the parts of the work that don't require judgment so engineers can focus on the parts that do.

AI also assists in code review. Before a human reviewer sees a PR, AI scans for common issues: inconsistent naming, missed edge cases in error handling, potential performance regressions, and deviations from the project's architectural patterns. This doesn't replace the human review. It makes the human review more productive because the obvious issues are already flagged.

QA: intent-driven validation with AURA

Our release validation runs through AURA, our own release confidence platform. Instead of maintaining brittle UI test scripts, we define intents: what needs to be true after a user action. AURA's AI orchestration layer figures out how to validate those intents across API, backend state, UI, and data integrity layers simultaneously.

This means our QA process catches failures that traditional testing misses. A booking flow that renders correctly but produces incorrect backend state. An API that returns the right shape but wrong data. A UI that passed visual regression but broke accessibility. AURA validates the whole stack, not just the surface.

What we don't use AI for

We don't use AI to make product decisions. Which feature to build next, how to prioritize the backlog, what the right user flow is for a complex workflow: these are human decisions that require context, judgment, and direct knowledge of the client's business. AI can inform these decisions with data synthesis. It can't make them.

We also don't use AI to write client-facing copy. Every word on a case study, every sentence in a proposal, every paragraph in a strategy document is written by a person who knows the project. AI-generated copy reads like AI-generated copy. Our clients can tell. So can we.

The principle

AI makes us faster at the things that benefit from speed. Research synthesis. Code scaffolding. Test generation. Pattern detection. Release validation. For everything that requires judgment, context, or a relationship with the client, humans do the work. The goal is not to replace people. The goal is to give senior people more time for the work that only senior people can do.
